About

After 10 years of research and development within Air Liquide and Waga Energy, the WAGABOX® technology combines membrane filtration and cryogenic distillation to isolate the methane from the other components in the landfill gas (nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other impurities). It produces a high quality biomethane that can be injected in the gas grid to supply individuals, businesses or even fuel vehicles. The WAGABOX® technology has a double impact to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions : it reduces the amount of methane released in the atmosphere and provides a clean, local and renewable energy to substitute for fossil-based gas. Waga Energy operates ten WAGABOX® units in France, they supply approximately 35,000 households with clean, local and renewable gas, avoiding the release of 45,000 metric tons of CO2eq. Ten more units are currently under construction in France, Spain and Canada.
