Bertrand Piccard’s exploits recognized by the Society of Explorers and Society of Geography

Bertrand Piccard receiving an award

The grand prize of the Société de Géographie and the prize of the Société des Explorateurs have been awarded to Bertrand Piccard for his round-the-world flight with Solar Impulse, and for his continued efforts to push for and support a transition toward renewable energy and clean technologies.

The awards recognize Bertrand for going beyond conventional wisdom to make the impossible possible, and were presented to him in Paris on the 1st of December 2016.

During the event, Bertrand expanded upon his next mission - very much in line with the reasons for which he has been rewarded today - which is to federate the actors in the field of clean technologies and shed light on existing efficient solutions to fast-track their implementation.

The Société de Géographie was founded in 1821 and supports research and activities to help build a better understanding of the world and its people.

The Société des Explorateurs Français was founded in 1937, brings together explorers and contributes to furthering knowledge about the world through unexplored avenues.
