About

• Tempeh today: a very innovative Dutch food and production technology company with a high level of social impact; • Focus on providing healthy, high-protein school meals to BOP children in India (future expansion to Africa); • Unique semi-commercial business model tackles the structural lack of budget within (Indian) school meal programs. 60% of production will be sold in retail and foodservice to cover the costs of making 40% of production available as school meal ingrediënt; • Tempeh (fermented soy beans) is the main ingredient. A new product in India but tests show good acceptance among kids and adults; price, flavour, texture and nutrition are well received; • Local, decentralised production of tempeh in hightech mobile Small Fermentation Units (SFU). Monitored and (quality) controlled remotely (NL). The SFU has been developed and tested and is post Proof of Concept; SFUs are solar energy driven • Ingredients will be sourced from local small holder farmers receiving decent prices, coaching and education; • Tempeh today is strongly driven by the support of Henk Schouten of Schouten Food Group (NL). He will be very close to local management and has funded a sizeable amount in the development and current phase. Solid partners are available for local commercial business development;
