About

What we do: Chargetrip offers smart route planning and navigation specific for Electric Vehicles (EV’s). This makes it easy for anyone, to use any EV beyond the range of the battery, operate fleets of EVs effortlessly, while simultaneously reducing operations costs. How we do it: Chargetrip develops an API-based SaaS platform for Electric Mobility. Our routing engine uses over fifteen different (dynamic) variables to calculate the real-time range of any electric vehicle (currently 246 EV models). Proprietary algorithms then compute the best route to a user’s destination, with the optimal charge stations in between, specific to their journey, business logic, and preferences. Build-in predictive models optimize for total travel time and travel costs. Chargetrip is easy to integrate into existing navigation- and telemetric fleet applications. Traction: Chargetrip has successfully implemented a number of EV-specific routing solutions. Our implementations include API services and front-end applications for: - EV-member organizations (e.g., Norwegian EV Association, ANWB), - Automotive Manufacturers (e.g., Porsche, Lightyear), - Charge Point Operators (e.g., EnBW, Iberdrola, EDP, Recharge), - Mobility Service Providers (e.g., Total, Autosense), and - Transportation Network Companies. Currently, over 175.000 EV drivers use our software every month, equal to 10% of all EVs in Europe. Why it is important: The electric charge- and drive eco-system is extremely fragmented. It is complicated for individual drivers and fleet operators to drive EVs effortlessly over long distances, across borders, or use EVs commercially with high intensity. This is because on-route charging is complex due to the different standards in plug-type, charge power, payment systems, waiting-lines, variable charge speeds, and outside variables like temperature, weather, topography, that impact the range of a battery. These flaws in the ecosystem cause three adoption barriers for individuals and fleet operators; Range Anxiety, Charge Anxiety, and the TCO complexity of operating an electric fleet. We know that Smart EV Routing, including predictive models for charge-congestion, and dynamic energy prices, alleviates these barriers, and accelerates global mass adoption of electric mobility. In the coming years our API will help to optimize the TCO of EV fleets; owned, leased, rented, shared and autonomous. Chargetrip is a team of 22 based in Amsterdam, with presence in Chicago, St. Moritz and Bucharest.
