A Multi-Sector Endowment Fund to Amplify Impact in the Public Interest
In response to the challenges facing Europe – bolstering industrial competitiveness, ensuring strategic sovereignty, and addressing social and environmental issues sustainably – the Solar Impulse Foundation and the Société d’Encouragement pour l’Industrie Nationale (SEIN) are joining forces to create a multi-sector endowment fund. This new non-profit mechanism will serve as a platform to unite stakeholders, channel collective energy, structure coordinated action, influence public policy, and accelerate the transformation of our economy.
Movin’On Leads as the Fund’s First Sectoral Pillar
Movin’On is catalysing this collective momentum by becoming the fund’s first dedicated pillar, focused on sustainable mobility. Over time, other sectors will be added to support the sustainable transition in additional key areas.
A Shared Ambition: Sustainable Mobility that Respects Planetary and Social Boundaries, within a More Competitive and Resilient Europe
The Solar Impulse Foundation, SEIN, and Movin’On are combining their efforts to drive transformation through four main action levers:
Scaling up efficient and economically viable solutions, by bringing together actors across the entire value chain – including industry, academia, startups, and institutions – around shared innovation and implementation.
Guiding consumers and citizens toward adopting more responsible mobility tools and practices, by demonstrating their feasibility and appeal through real-world trials.
Driving tangible change through local action, including concrete projects, regional pilots, and mobilisation events such as the Movin’On Summit.
Providing proven solutions and concrete recommendations to public authorities at European, national, and local levels, supporting them in developing ambitious roadmaps that integrate cost-effective solutions.
Three Complementary Forces Advancing Scalable, Competitive, Sustainable Mobility
Founded by explorer and pioneer Bertrand Piccard, the Solar Impulse Foundation plays a pivotal role in advancing the ecological transition by identifying and promoting clean, profitable, and readily deployable solutions.
“Having awarded the ‘Efficient Solution’ Label to over 1,600 clean, cost-effective, and ready-to-implement innovations, the Solar Impulse Foundation is now focused on driving their large-scale adoption by businesses and regions. Our alliance with SEIN – and the integration of Movin’On as the first pillar focused on mobility – is a crucial step toward that goal,” said Bertrand Piccard, President of the Solar Impulse Foundation.
Under the leadership of Olivier Mousson, SEIN brings historic institutional credibility and serves as a space for reflection, expertise, and dialogue on industrial transformation.
“Our institution, rooted in a strong historical legacy and influential network, promotes technological innovation, supports entrepreneurship, and helps shape a forward-looking French and European industrial future,” stated Olivier Mousson.
Presided over by Florent Menegaux, who also chairs Michelin Group, Movin’On is recognised as the world’s leading ecosystem for sustainable mobility. It unites companies, startups, local authorities, researchers, and NGOs to design and pilot inclusive, circular, intermodal, accessible, resource-efficient, and scalable mobility solutions. Movin’On brings a unique working methodology and the ability to foster cross-sector collaboration within communities of shared interest.
“Movin’On is entering a new chapter in its development. This fund unites committed companies and individuals determined to make mobility a sustainable and inclusive common good. This initiative strengthens our mission to convene an ecosystem around tangible, scalable solutions for sustainable mobility across territories,” explained Florent Menegaux.
