Who are the Solar Impulse Foundation Experts?

For the past months, we have been recruiting experts and building this strong community dedicated to evaluating all the solutions submitted by Members of the World Alliance and ultimately deciding if they are granted the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. Once they receive solutions submissions form, the experts must assess them through the following criteria: technological feasibility, environmental and socio-economic benefits, and economic profitability. 

Being part of Solar Impulse Foundation’s mission to replace old polluting devices with clean technologies is not the only reason they join. “Evaluating these technologies is useful in my everyday job. When I discover new solutions to problems, I start looking at them in a different way. As a research scientist, I have to come up with new ideas all the time, so this is very helpful” says Markus Berheide. “As an expert I get the first opportunity to look at brand new solutions and to appreciate them. It is very rewarding” adds Sharath Mahadavi, also an Expert from Schlumberger. “For a company, it is a great opportunity to engage with the solution providers”. 

Indeed our partners, companies such as Schlumberger, have provided the Solar Impulse Foundation with many experts from their own networks, helping us to build a community of close to 100 experts from various industries and fields of expertise, matching the 5 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) that we focus on: 

• Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6)
• Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7)
• Industry Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9)
• Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11)
• Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)

The hard work of these experts, and their commitment to our #1000solutions challenge are the backbone of our label, ensuring its worthiness and credibility. Indeed, our goal is to select 1000 solutions that protect the environment in a profitable way and to help fast-track their implementation, so it is absolutely fundamental that we make sure these solutions are the right ones.

To achieve our goal of #1000solutions, we still need many more Experts.
