Without a doubt, aviation has been a key factor of human development and progress. It has allowed humans to travel all around the world and connect with one another. In 2017, over 4.1 billion passengers were carried by the world's airlines. However, for a sustainable future, air transport needs to tackle its environmental impact. While electric airplanes and hydrogen-fueled airplanes seem to be planned in the near future, one solution is already available on the market…
SkyBreathe is a software providing a fuel efficiency solution for airlines. Through Big Data algorithms, they analyse flight data recorders and can give advice to air carriers on best practices to save fuel. Their 3D visualization of flight analysis makes it easy for pilots to follow their recommendations for planned flight.
This “fuel coach” for pilots can help airlines save up to 5% fuel consumption, resulting in money saved and less GHG emissions. With over 30 airlines already using their solution, OpenAirlines, the French-based company editing the software, estimates they are saving 821 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere... Every day!
