Usitoo lets citizens rent items that they only need once or twice a year. It’s cheaper than buying them, and there is no need for a deposit. Moreover, items booked online are delivered near the user place, in one of the delivery points of our network. Since a rented object is a saving of 279 kg of CO2 and 45 kg of Natural Resources (averaged values), the environmental impact of "making rental sexy again" is huge. In addition, Usitoo also applies the best practices of circular economy for its supplies: 90% of the catalogue is sources from objects that citizens possess and do not use anymore. We buy these objects back, in exchange for free rentals. Usitoo vision is to make "circular e-rental" as easy as e-commerce, but virtuous for the planet. Activities have started in Brussels in March 2018 where the our e-rental model has been experimented and progressively fine-tuned. The service has been streamlined, all barriers to mutualisation progressively suppressed, and our prices made as attractive as possible (with a major revision after the COVID crisis). Usitoo mission is to make sure its members get the objects they need when they need it and where they need it. Hence the primary organisation as a library of stuff, with an online platform for direct transactions and reservation, and an associated delivery service. As of the summer of 2020, Usitoo is now preparing its European scale-up as more and more cities are willing to deploy a similar service for their citizens, which would contribute to avoid millions of tons of CO2 Europe-wide.
