About

In 1896, Adrien Palaz inaugurated the very first tramway network in Lausanne (tl) and thus founded the tl. With the first tram, and as the network developed rapidly, Adrien Palaz provided the inhabitants with modern transportation. Since then, the tl has been "shortening" the city and innovating, as in 1932, with the creation of the first trolleybus in Switzerland, and in 2008, with the commissioning of the m2, the first automatic metro in Switzerland. Today, the agglomeration is on the verge of major changes. Its population is growing, jobs are being concentrated in the urban centers, and consequently mobility needs are increasing. With new mobility solutions and a strengthened network offer, the tl is ready to accompany these changes.
