Start-up South African Wave energy conversion technology company - using wave energy directly to pump prefiltered seawater at high pressure to feed and drive Reverse Osmosis desalination systems, dropping the running costs of traditional SWRO by more than 50%. The by product is power and brine. Mariculture operations enjoy similar savings in their seawater supply systems (traditionally a major running cost). Furthermore, the filtration we offer mitigates the risk of deadly red-tide events. Our demonstration sites in South Africa and Namibia are in a state of development, with funding being sought to continue by our partners, Isle Utilities from Innovate UK. The positive outcome of this submission will see operations begin in April 2020, in Henties Bay, Namibia. In South Africa, funding is being sought for two projects, one in Saldanha and another in Port Elizabeth, in the Coega IDZ.
