Searen’s solution provides water circulation, particulate removal and aeration with a single simple device resulting in water treatment systems that are less complex and more efficient. This is accomplished by using a vacuum pump to boost the performance and functionality of an airlift pump. This patent protected technology is called a Vacuum AirLift™ or VAL™. The inherent simplicity of the design produces a number of unique benefits. The open, free flow design makes it high volume, non-clogging, low energy input and requires no or limited consumables. The simplicity and multi functionality leads to high reliability and scalability. The VAL is a high impact, platform technology that supports sustainable water treatment processes. Our beachhead market is aquaculture (fish farming). The need for healthy, low cost protein sources has made aquaculture a high growth market in the US. Land based Sustainable Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (SRAS) are the fastest growing aquaculture segment. The VAL™ is an ideal candidate for these systems due to its ability to circulate the water, remove fine particulates, strip carbon dioxide and inject oxygen with high energy efficiency. The particulates removed by the VAL include viruses, bacteria, toxic algae and off flavor compounds thereby increasing fish biomass yield and quality. After establishing our beachhead market, we will expand into other industrial and municipal markets such as agriculture wastewater treatment, food and beverage industry, Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) remediation, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) site remediation, municipal wastewater treatment, oil and gas clean-up, algaculture as well as other opportunities.
