SEADS offer a complete service to design, produce and install river barriers able to collect up to 100% of plastic waste and re-direct it towards recycling.
Our BlueBarriers not only collect 100% of riverine plastic waste but also guide the administrations to extract the highest value from the collected waste. Research by the University of Bologna already showed that once our BlueBarriers are installed, selling the pellets made from the collected wood covers all the costs of waste management and disposal, generating a self-funding process that creates jobs while protecting the environment.
The collected high-quality plastic can also be sold at a premium as Marine Litter (www.oceanworks.co). We are currently working on a pilot to transform 100% of the collected plastic into raw plastic material. This will offer the public administrations a scalable self-funding blueprint to turn Ocean Plastic into Wealth.
The benefits are holistic: cities get improved recycling rates, less waste ends up in landfill or the environment, more jobs are created, we create a fair and equitable circular economy for all, and standards of living improve as a consequence – all of which tie in to achieve UN SDGs.
