Remora Fishing Traceability

About

Remora is a catalyzer towards sustainable fisheries, focusing on seafood traceability in small scale fisheries, we believe in transparency from the sea-to-the-plate. Nearly 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are overexploited. We developed technology to collect data throughout the three main segments of the supply chain: catch, landing, and commercialization. Our proprietary hardware and software enables data intelligence using a visualization platform that helps analyze the “big-data” of fisheries: monitor catch, fish breeding cycles, percentage of catch and by-catch, among others. We accomplish this through a vessel monitoring system (to know WHERE they are fishing), a smart scale in the landing centers (to understand WHAT they are fishing), an eCommerce platform (to CONNECT responsible fishermen to conscious consumers), and the Data Fishing Management Platform (to UNDERSTAND all this information and cross it with other variables). We aim to help fishermen to increase their product value, give a tool for policy-makers to regulate and understand their marine stock, and enable end-consumers to make better choices towards responsibly caught fish
