Trees are still the most effective technology to capture carbon dioxide. However, climate change is altering the potential trees coverage and according to the actual trajectory, the global canopy cover may shrink by 223 million hectares by 2050. The ongoing degradation of land due to the growing scarcity of water resources coupled with increased salinity of soil and water directly influence the potential trees coverage. A systemic approach able to combine trees planting, soil restoration and sustainable water use is needed. The MTP provides impact solutions for regenerative reforestation and agroforestry projects to fight climate change. Combining cost-effective desalination technique with water-saving planting technology and Internet-of-Things solutions, the MTP enables reforestation projects on dryland broadening the soil availability for trees planting at the needed scale to achieve carbon neutrality
