39% of household water consumption is used for personal hygiene, yet we often remain unaware of our actual usage during showers. To empower users with knowledge and reduce consumption, we created the Molleaumètre. This flow meter easily screws onto shower hoses in seconds, displaying real-time consumption and raising awareness through a light ring that changes color based on usage levels.
Our approach is rooted in nudge theory, combining behavioral science and industrial design to encourage users to reduce their water consumption. The device is self-powered by a turbine that converts water energy into electricity.
The Molleaumètre also incorporates a flow reducer, prompting users to adjust or stop the water flow according to different shower phases (wetting, soaping, rinsing). This innovative device aims to give users the power to understand and control their water usage, ultimately leading to more sustainable shower habits.
