About

Komodo Water (KW) is a social enterprise providing universal access to decent water and sustainable water management solutions for small islands and coastal communities. Established in 2011, Komodo Water was born from the founder's concern about the ironic situation that there was no availability of access to clean water for the fishermen village in the Komodo National Park area, meanwhile the park itself has been a world-known tourism destination. Our almost a decade's presence on the island has taught us about the challenging situation and how to overcome those. KW solutions come up to answer the problem of scarce fresh water supply in the small island communities and high number of rotten fish due to shortage of ice supplies for fishermen. KW targets the water and ice flakes supply for fishermen, fish sellers, and tourist boats. Drinking-water is distributed using 20 litres jerry-cans or gallons, and the ice in the form of ice flakes. The production facility is 100% Solar Powered and located in Papagarang Island, where most customers reside. KW location outperforms its competitors who mostly reside in the main town, requiring a 2-hours boat ride from Papagarang island. In Komodo Water, we also deliver the expertise to explore, discover, and manage the water resources in a sustainable manner. Our business covers water management solutions for remote areas which include finding the sustainable water source, providing the suitable water technology, community preparation, project management, operation & maintenance, and capacity building for the locals.
