The Technology:
Hyperspectral imaging consists of a remote sensing technology that can identify the molecule composition of materials at a distance. Assisted by machine learning, this technology can provide a level of information that can disrupt a plethora of industries with a myriad of applications. To
name a few, precision farming, oil & gas operations, mining, waterways management, disaster response, environmental monitoring and much more.
The Breakthrough:
Hypercubes is developing technologies to turn high performance computers tolerant to fault induced by radiation. On top of these TFLOP/s devices (a computational capability never seen in space before), we are bringing to satellites the power of artificial intelligence to process data on the EDGE. In other words, we are building a constellation of “Swiss knife” satellites that can learn how to detect, identify and classify targets on its own.
Our technology blend of miniaturized hyperspectral sensors, high performance computing and artificial intelligence, scaled by a fleet of low-cost miniature satellites, will possibly culminate in the most advanced Earth observation instrument to be ever flown into space.
On the edge processing will allow us for instance, to look at crops all over the world and by reading their biomarkers’, keep track of an unprecedented level of information. From soil fertility, water saturation level, nitrogen, invasive species, stress, deceases to the nutrients
present in the leaves (precision agriculture), this technology can take the production of food to the state of the art.
Equally relevant, this constellation may create models so sophisticated of the planet that it will help us understand where and when the next droughts can possibly happen. Droughts that can lead to a crisis such as the one we see in Syria. Being able to forecast such scenario, is priceless.
Rationale:
By 2050, there’ll be 10 billion people living on this planet, a big number that poses many questions on food, water, energy and so on. At Hypercubes, we believe that we can only improve, what we can measure and our mission is to provide the world a vital tool that can weave
actionable intelligence to manage global resources.
