We are an innovative Barcelona-based company manufacturing certified circular and flame retardant boards for a sustainable and healthy built environment, using our biotech resins-free process for non-toxic products.
From Research to Reality:
It started with a vision to protect the planet and a challenge of how residue from papermaking, considered useless and also polluting, could be upgraded into something useful and valuable. Experts from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, one of the leading technical universities in Europe, and the Merino family, have dedicated over a decade to research and development to find the solution.
The result is HONEXT®, a unique, IP protected biotech process that upcycles industrial waste into a fully recyclable material entirely and free of toxic chemicals. Through this, the original vision is coming to life as manufactured certified circular (flame-retardant) HONEXT® boards for interior construction purposes, providing a truly sustainable, and much needed alternative for the built environment.
Currently Honext is working to accelerate the transition to the circular economy by internationalizing this ground-breaking circular business model, which is using local waste for local production, providing a global solution.
