About

Fishy Filaments has designed and built a community scale system to recycle end-of-life fishing nets made from Nylon monofilament. Established in 2017, the company has proven a process that can produce commercially attractive raw materials at a fraction of the carbon cost of their virgin equivalents. We are now working to 'scale out' our technologies to make them available globally, recovering waste nets that are potentially polluting local coastal and ocean environments. Only 2% of nylon produced each year is recycled. 100% coverage of our solution could double that by 2030, making an ultra-low carbon source of nylon available in industrial quantities at a cost that competes directly with new plastic production.
