ECT re-uses construction soil for land-use developments (parks, golf courses, re-establisment of agricultural land...)

Everything started in the 1970’s when an extension project was launched for a park in the North of the Paris region (The George Valbon in La Courneuve).
The idea developped by the three lanscapers Allain Provost ; John Whalley and Gilbert Samel, was to create a totally artificial world made of small valleys, hills, lakes and panoramic viewpoints. At this time, big construction works were happening in Paris, amongst which a huge whole was being dug underneath the former covered market (le Forum des Halles).
Claude Picard organised the matching between the need of soil for the creation of the park extension and excavated soil coming from construction works in Paris.
As construction companies were paying for the evacuation of their excavated soil this also became a source of financing for the George Valbon park. ECT’s business model was born!
Circular economy strategy leads ECT’s growth. The company re-uses excavated soil from construction sites to promote with local authorities, mainly in the Paris region, concerted and sustainable development projects. These developments are designed to make an environmental and societal contribution with partnerships in the fields of renewable energy, urban agriculture, and preservation of wildlife.
