About
ClimeRock is a French startup pioneering solutions for hard-to-abate greenhouse gas emissions, which is one of the biggest challenges to achieving net-zero. While emission reductions are vital, some residual emissions will persist (IPCC). Current carbon removal solutions are insufficient to meet the 5-10 gigatons of CO2 required annually by 2050.
Our mission is to develop and scale Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), a natural and verifiable method that permanently removes CO2 while restoring degraded soils. ERW involves spreading fine silicate rocks, such as basalt, which react with atmospheric CO2 to form stable bicarbonates, improving soil health and boosting crop yields. Leveraging abundant natural resources and existing infrastructure, ERW is energy-efficient and scalable, with immense potential for agricultural lands.
Founded in 2023, ClimeRock launched the first ERW field trials in France, collaborates with leading research institutions, and is backed by recognized organizations.
