About

Axibio offers a solution to collect biowaste from cities based on the principle of voluntary deposit. Individuals and professionals bring their bio-waste (they sorted at home) to nearest drop-off container (GaïaBox™) designed by Axibio. It is equipped with an access control and a scale. People identify themselves with a badge, a card or their smartphone. When they throw their organic waste, the weight of it is recorded. Once full, the pallet box housed inside the GaïaBox is collected and brought to a preparation site equipped with the Axibio bioseperator. Biowaste is compacted there and undesirable items sorted. The biomass obtained is then delivered to the nearest anaerobic digestion site or composting unit. Biowaste is then recycled into biomethane and organic fertilizers. On average, 1 metric ton of biowaste allows the production of 800 kg of compost and 100 m3 of biomethane which contain the equivalent in terms of energy to travel 1000 km with a small car. The weight measurement and the Axibio information system allow: • To have a rigorous traceability of biowaste; • To get clear statistics on what have been thrown and which quantity of energy and fertilizers have been produced; • To set up individual environmental accounting to motivate citizens and involve them in a project related to the energy transition in their territory.
