Aegean Sails is using Wind and Solar Power for Maritime Transport
About
ISTIA AIGAIOU is a Greek Social Cooperative Enterprise that, since 2017, experimentally connects the Greek Aegean Islands by Sailboat, using almost exclusively wind and solar power, to transport quality food, other products and participating eco travelers. In 2021 it was awarded by the Greek Green Fund a grant to transform a small experimental sailboat into the first worldwide Solar Electric Cargo Sailboat "PELAGO" that launched in April 2022.
As a further development it plans to equip this sailboat with on board hydrogen production for cooking and possibly heating.
