Ways2H is turning the world’s worst waste into renewable hydrogen for mobility, microgrids and power generation. For the past decade, Ways2H, of Long Beach, California, and its technology partner, Japan Blue Energy, Co. Ltd. (JBEC), of Tokyo, Japan, have developed their patented process as a unique solution for the global $400 billion+ solid waste management market and the rapidly growing hydrogen economy, estimated to reach $2.5 trillion by 2050. We are commercializing and scaling a thermochemical process that converts waste streams, such as municipal solid waste, sewage sludge and plastics, into clean hydrogen without incineration. The process produces its own fuel and heat, is carbon-neutral by itself and carbon-negative when paired with carbon capture and storage. We are exploring partnerships with carbon capture and storage companies to achieve negative carbon emissions. The growing volumes of trash and unrecyclable plastic causing problems around the world can be upcycled to produce a major portion of the world’s clean energy resources. Countries around the world can thus increase their use of hydrogen for mobility, power generation, energy storage and other applications tapping their own, local, resources. Ways2H aims to improve the global environment by eliminating waste while producing carbon-negative renewable hydrogen. There’s an urgent need to scale up clean hydrogen production to replace fossil fuels used for mobility, power generation and industrial applications. With 95% of hydrogen fuel currently produced from natural gas and other fossil fuels, the world needs new sources of renewable hydrogen to reach a carbon-negative future.
