The main mission of our association is to support small growers, NGOs and the private sector in the production of bamboo charcoal, a source of energy that helps to curb deforestation and preserve Madagascar's unique biodiversity. In addition to growing rapidly and regenerating each year, bamboo plantations have many environmental benefits. They capture up to 30% more CO2 than deciduous forests, restore soil that has been degraded or threatened by erosion, raise the level of groundwater and are reservoirs of biodiversity. The director of our association in Madagascar, Mr Jean-Yves Razafindrakoto, is recognized for his knowledge of bamboo. He was for more than 10 years the technical manager of the PROSPERER program financed by the European Union and the IFAD (UN). Our association has signed a 10-year partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development of Madagascar. We are also supported by INBAR (the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization) which provides us with technical support and high quality bamboo seeds. The projects we develop meet 8 Sustainable Development Goals. They are monitored and measured over time and make it possible to regenerate soil affected by erosion. Our association collaborates with renowned NGOs and international development agencies such as FAO, WWF, GIZ, ADES Solaire as well as companies concerned with committing to the preservation of the environment and biodiversity.
