About

Waste generation is exceeding population growth. We as Umincorp (Urban MINing CORPoration) believe this ever growing flow should be used as a rich mine: A place to recover an important product: plastic. It’s our aim to convert waste streams into a source of valuable raw materials. With our innovative technique we can create economic circularity by recycling plastic waste into near-to-virgin plastic polymers. These high-quality polymers can be re-used for all kinds of plastic products. In 2016, the world generated 242 million tons of plastic waste, 12 percent of all municipal solid waste. Compared to conventional mining, urban mining saves energy, reduces CO2 emissions, improves resource availability, decreases the impact of rising resource prices and avoids many negative environmental impacts. Plastic has strong benefits: it's cheap, versatile and lightweight. This makes it an important material in many sectors. It plays a important role in maintaining food quality, safety and preventing waste. Good substitutes with alike characteristics aren’t easy to find. A proper plastic waste management is necessary to preserve nature, keep the public opinion satisfied and to fulfil the request for plastics. The challenge with the recycling of plastic waste is to come to a real ‘new’ raw material. The current conventional mechanical recycling techniques come to a 90% pure product and unfortunately only for half of the flow. ( The other part is still waste). With our separation installation we can come to a 99% pure product and for 85% of the flow. So we recover more products out of the waste stream and our products are almost the same as virgin, only 33% less expensive and with a much lower CO2 footprint. The past seven years we’ve developed the innovative technique used: Magnetic Density Separation (MDS). This technology separates materials based on their density. It’s unique as it can separate a mixed stream into at least four different output materials, in just one single process step. We sell this solution to waste owners and private and public companies.
