About
Protium Innovations LLC (Protium) develops hydrogen solutions for high reliability electric transportation. Protium’s first product is a liquid hydrogen tank system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms, which when combined with Protium’s hydrogen generation and fueling infrastructure, provides the quiet reliability of electric aircraft without the long charging times and short flight times typically associated with batteries.
Protium Innovations has capitalized on the unique ability of additive manufacturing to combine complex geometries and lightweight materials to develop a liquid hydrogen storage tank that can be optimized for different UAV platforms.
Overall system mass is reduced with patented heat exchanger design integrated in the tank wall, warming the cold hydrogen vapor to ambient temperature before it leaves the tank.
The structural polymers we utilize have a density 1/3 of that of aluminum and provides adequate strength for a low pressure liquid cryogens.
