Orta is a green-to-the-core gardening business. We manufacture self-watering pots to help gardeners start seeds, forging deeper connections between people and nature, and avoiding single-use plastic nursery pots.
Here are some of our behind the scenes environmental practices: Our terracotta pots are fired only once to use half the energy of traditional ceramics. Our glazes are specially formulated to perform well without spraying (keeping the air cleaner). We make all clay and glazes in-house to avoid unnecessary toxins that may be present in commercial formulas. We ship in 100% paper packaging. We source seeds from small, organic growers who are preserving biodiversity. Local deliveries are by bicycle.
