We are working on a waste management mobile application called Ebusaka that will be operational in November 2020. We are basically cleaning cities using smart technology by connecting people to waste disposal companies and also providing public awareness regarding the importance of recycling and waste disposal. The waste management industry for a long time has been associated with inefficiency, irregularities & poor customer service, we are about to change that narrative by making waste management great again. Ebusaka mobile app plans to disrupt the waste management industry in Zambia by bridging the gap through quick and efficiency action towards waste management. We want to help create sustainable cities and communities through a proportion of urban solid waste regularly collected and with adequate final discharge out of total urban solid waste generated. Reducing pollution and health impacts through environmentally sound management (ESM) of all waste throughout the product life cycle; promoting waste prevention, reduction, and recycling and reuse. We aim to also improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating illegal dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, and improving wastewater treatment and increasing recycling and safe reuse which in turn will help prevent diseases like Cholera. Our mission is to make the collection and disposal of waste easy and more effective and also strengthen monitoring and reporting to help provide insight data and waste statistics to help authorities. We believe the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be met unless waste management is addressed as a priority.
