About

JG Pears began in 1972, starting out as a livestock and farming business. Over 50 years later, the business has expanded rapidly, growing into a green energy animal by product rendering organisation that also provide vast food waste and animal by-product collection services. Sustainability is at the heart of JGP. The company controls all sectors of their business within the rendering industry to implement sustainable interventions, making sure optimum sustainability actions are undertaken. JGP uses their own truck fleet, collecting fallen stock and organic waste, being held at JGP sites before being processed. Poultry is the main feedstock utilised at the Newark site, where fat and tallow are processed, producing biodiesel and fats that can be sold. The rest is turned into meal, used in petfood and animal feeds. Feathers from poultry are processed into aquafeed for fish. Blood is also processed, producing blood meal, also used in pet food. Renewable energy is produced, with MBM feedstock used for a 42MW CHP, providing renewable energy to both the Newark site and the grid. Trials of green hydrogen generation production with excess water are underway and proving successful. JGP are working on the development of a Green Energy Business Park, where a large solar and hydrogen plant will be built and other rendering storage sites to reduce noise and odour complaints. In summary, JGP are innovative and forward thinking, making sure current processes and future developments actively reduce GHG emissions and achieve sustainability goals.
