About

Jarvis Industries develops power units that generate renewable and affordable electricity from rivers at any scale. Our power units associate two components. First, water turbines with a specific design that boosts efficiency when installed in large groups. Second, mechanical batteries (flywheel) that use a proprietary bearing technology to cheaply store large amounts of electricity for short periods of time (~4h at most) to take advantage of intraday electricity price variations. By combining efficient and scalable turbines with batteries, Jarvis Industries will be able to profitably generate large amounts of electricity from any major river globally. Our technology has been independently assessed by Prof. Liang Dongfang, associate professor of engineering at the University of Cambridge, who concluded that our "designed system is feasible and technically sound and [...] has negligible impact on the hydro-environment and aquatic ecology". Finally, our power units have been successfully tested in a full-scale pilot project that further validated our performance, structural, and environmental simulations. Performance measures allowed to demonstrate the functionality of Jarvis Industries' technology, as well as validate the efficiency boost phenomenon critical to our success. 8 environmental metrics (turbidity, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, nitrate, water speed, coliform bacteria) were recorded before, during, and after the pilot test with no difference found between the three samples. Jarvis Industries is currently moving from experimental to commercial projects. We are actively discussing with multiple industrial partners worldwide to deploy private-wire projects in the 0.5-5MW range in beginning 2024.
