About

Founded 2015, FiberSense solves sensor deployment in cities by using existing fiber optic lines already installed in cities, turning them into a massive distributed vibration sensing network. We use that sensing capability to serve our customers valuable insights hey need to make their cities safer and more efficient. FiberSense is uniquely capable at isolating objects and events of interest against a noisy, highly cluttered urban acoustic background. We are serving customers in several cities and countries, with reference customers available in High Voltage Electrical, Telecoms, Subsea High Voltage Cables and soon SmartCities/traffic monitoring. Our patented technology installs at one end of an existing telecom or utility fiber optic cable and allows it to act like a continuous string of vibration sensors. Our highly advanced photonics and machine learning algorithms interpret the sensing data into highly valuable insights for our customers. The FiberSense service saves lives by protecting underground utilities assets from being accidentally hit during excavation work (especially important for underground high voltage electrical cables and gas companies pipes) which also saves critical infrastructure owners the costs of repair and lost revenue/interruption. We are on a mission to cut water companies non-revenue water losses (and the 1% of global COE2 attributable to water losses) by instantly identifying burst mains anywhere in a city and forecasting where slow leaks may be starting so they can be preventatively repaired. We are revolutionising vehicle monitoring by detecting every vehicle on the roads in our coverage areas, cutting congestion and emission. FiberSense's technology brings the promise of SmartCities into reality today by solving the costs/operational/deployment/maintenance/privacy issues associated with discrete sensors/cameras.
