Currently ECO PARTNERSHEEP INSULATION (EPI) is a small company that received a grant of EUR 22.2m for a project of EUR 34m. The result will be a zero waste factory that will process 25,000 tons per year of raw wool (almost all collectable raw wool produced in Romania) to be transformed in 100% wool insulation, lanoline and organic fertilizers recycling all the water and using energy from own 1MW PH park. The farmers associations and locals are among the stakeholders positively impacted.
The first forays with the sheep wool insolation industry were in 2022 when Cristian Mercioniu started what today it is called “pilot factory”: a small capacity sheep wool insulation line in Costesti town, Arges county.
