While EU standards help the industry to strategize and quantify the GHG emissions for the benefit of corporate reporting in a macro level, they don’t really help buyers across the supply chain make GHG-based manufacturing decisions. Purchased goods and services don’t provide any information on its environmental impact in relation to each step of the supply chain. Therefore, even if most consumers have a clear knowledge of their expenditures, they can’t evaluate their real carbon footprint. How can producers and consumers, fundamental players in the supply chain of a product, make informed, environmentally aware decisions while still considering their economic objectives? Our main objective is to make consumers and producers aware of their energy consumption and GHG emissions prior to making any decision on their purchasing, manufacturing, or supply chain process.
