About
Founded in 1987, Biothermica is a leader in the design, construction and turn-key delivery of air pollution control and methane abatement solutions. Biothermica is also a fully integrated developer of methane destruction and utilization projects based on the monetization of carbon credits. Through its subsidiaries, Biothermica co-owns (50%) and operates a 25 MW landfill gas power plant in Montreal, Canada. Biothermica (1995-2016) and developed, financed and implemented the first ventilation air methane destruction project at an active underground coal mine in America. Featuring Biothermicas VAMOX® system, this project has been in operation since March 2009 at Jim Walter Resources coal mine no. 4 near Brookwood, Alabama, up to 2013. Biothermica was the first Quebec company to generate carbon credits for its own account under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol, thanks to the development, financing and implementation of a landfill gas collection and flaring system in Nejapa, El Salvador. Biothermica is currently developing and financing an integrated waste management project in Gonaïves, Haïti, for GHG mitigation.
