Our Social Commitment
Autism is a neurological disorder that affects nearly 1% of world’s population. What causes Autism is still not known and there is no cure for Autism. It is a lifelong condition that affects the way that a person interacts with and experiences the world around them. The vast majority, 84%, of adults with Autism are either unemployed or underemployed, despite their ability, desire, and willingness to engage in meaningful work. Unemployment rates among adults with autism are double compared to other disabilities.
We provide hands on training and skill development to adults with autism. Training programs vary between 3 weeks to 6 months depending in individual needs. All trainings necessarily culminate in employment with Auspice Social.
By virtue of our inclusive business model, our work supports the principles of “Equal pay for equal work” and “Reasonable Accommodation” as defined in UN Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD). We are also working in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequality.
Our Goals
Our goal is to create 10,000 jobs for persons with autism, where ever they are. This will be accomplished in 4 phases:
1. Phase 1 – Pilot : successfully completed in early 2020
In April 2019, Auspice and Action for Autism National Center For Autism, New Delhi, conducted a pilot project to evaluate the abilities of Autistic persons to engage in food processing activities. We selected a small group of 12 interns, aged between 15 and 35 – all of them with Autism. They were engaged in cleaning, sorting, packaging and labeling of herbs and spices. The high point of the whole exercise was a sense of joy and accomplishment among all interns. During this pilot, 2500 units of finished goods were produced and they were placed at 2 supermarket stores. They all sold out.
2. Milestone 1 – 100 jobs for persons with autism by Dec 2022
This phase is in action since early 2021. Once these jobs are created, they will collectively create economic activity of $ 200,000 annually and generate a profit of $50000.
3. Milestone 2 – 1000 jobs for persons with autism by Dec 2025
4. Milestone 3 – 10000 jobs for persons with autism by Dec 2030
