Wasser 3.0 stands for responsible research and innovation in connection with education and communication. Wasser 3.0 has been researching solutions for the removal of microplastics and micro-pollutants from our waters since 2012. Since May 2020 the Wasser 3.0 gGmbH – a non-profit company – was founded.
We explain why we do what we do in the context of educational projects, public lectures and scientific publications. We meet complex challenges with versatile competences, from different perspectives and on several levels - for sustainable developments in our society and environment.

Wasser 3.0 pursues the goal of meaningfully counteracting global water pollution by micro-pollutants with solution-oriented research and innovation. In doing so, we are guided in particular by the sustainability goals of the United Nations with these key points:
- Long-term protection of water as a habitat or as a central element of habitats.
- Protecting water in its various facets as a resource for present and future generations.
- Development of options for a sustainable nature-compatible, economic and social development.
As a non-profit company, we are located at the interface between science, business, politics and society. Here we are looking for new ways to conduct responsible research and innovation with all parties involved and to launch effective solutions for clean water. Due to the Wasser 3.0 history, micro-pollutant research in the field of water is an essential component of our work.
Water polluted with micro-pollutants is a highly complex system. Above all: not all waters are the same. Detecting micro-pollutants in water and removing them sustainably has posed enormous challenges for science and industry for years.
Dr. Katrin Schuhen and her team at Wasser 3.0 represent a completely new approach. Here, a maximum of interdisciplinary expertise combined with enormous research and innovation power meets the necessary idealism.
