At Airbus, we recognise that global developments like climate change, poverty and increasing inequality are serious issues that are relevant to us all. In response, we focus on supporting communities with solutions they can own, that are scalable and deliver a long-term benefit. We target two broad priority areas: enabling communities most exposed to humanitarian crises and climate change to adapt and build resilience; and widening youth access to essential future knowledge and skills. The Airbus Foundation is our vehicle to unlock access to Airbus products and services, collaborating with NGO partners to respond to humanitarian crises, natural disasters and environmental challenges, with a focus also on strengthening resilience. In addition, the Airbus Foundation supports educators worldwide through developing quality educational resources, inspired by the aerospace industry and addressing complex societal challenges such as artificial intelligence.
A shared vision
Driven by a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation, Airbus Foundation and Solar Impulse Foundation collaborate to leverage the capabilities and expertise of both foundations. The partnership aims to identify and accelerate the adoption of scalable nature-based projects to enhance climate resilience. At the heart is a series of calls for projects to support organisations developing solutions to societal challenges, from driving climate change mitigation and adaptation, to addressing food security and human health concerns.
Aerospace technologies can unlock information about our planet that we cannot access from the ground. By combining these capabilities from Airbus with Solar Impulse Foundation’s expertise in supporting climate projects, we can create new pathways for innovation to strengthen climate resilience.
Julie Kitcher, Airbus Chief Sustainability Officer and Chair of the Airbus Foundation
By combining aerospace technology with nature-based solutions, we can turn innovation into impact. Our partnership with the Airbus Foundation demonstrates how advanced capabilities like satellite imagery can help restore ecosystems, support economic development, and build climate resilience where it’s needed most.
Bertrand Piccard, Initiator and Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation
