What is the focus of the association IoT Business Hub?

The association IoT Business Hub has the intention to use novel technologies with United Nations' (UN) Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) in mind to make the world a better place to live. The association is politically neutral and strives for gender-equality. In particular, the trending technologies such as IoT and AI are in the focus of the association.

The combination of AI and IoT possesses an enormous potential to transform work in application areas like Smart Buildings, Industry 4.0, Smart City, Healthcare, Logistics, Retail, and Agriculture. Unfortunately, missing capabilities for interaction and interoperability of individual components hinder progress and scalability of the business models. Such components include sensor and actuator devices, communication systems and gateways, provisioning and security schemes, data representations, and service platforms (clouds). Typically, isolated optimization of such individual components does not yield an optimal solution on the system level. Furthermore, the multi-dimensional fragmentation, introduced by the focus on components, leads to unnecessary complexity. As a result, this complexity severely limits the scalability and adoption of systems.

The Association “IoT Business Hub” has a strong commitment to bring together partners from research, business and society based on disrupting innovation in trending technologies such as IoT and AI. Components from various even competing providers shall collaborate within the hub to create scale and lower the complexity of the underlying technologies that have the potential to allow a considerable effort in sustainability in our daily life. Bridging the gap between Switzerland's well-established ecosystem in the application fields and emerging technologies and the rest of the world promise to reap a large return on investment for companies within the technology ecosystem.
