About

Woodco is headquartered in Ireland, with 15 full-time employees working at their main office premises in Donaskeigh in Co. Tipperary. The company was founded in 2017 with its main business initially focussing on the manufacture of commercial wood-pellet boilers. From the very beginning, the company wanted to focus on “Waste to Energy” systems, specifically addressing the conversion of organic waste (feedstock) into thermal and electrical energy. This goal was achieved through the development of the EMPYRE GPN 100, a demonstration 100kW pyrolysis plant with an integrated combined heat and power unit (CHP). The EMPYRE GPN 100 combines patented pyrolysis technology and a first-to-market combined reactor and CHP management platform. The plant is grid-independent, generating its own thermal and electrical with zero carbon emissions. The plant outputs biochar, a pathogen-free carbon by-product which has multiple benefits in agriculture and crucially when spread on land, sequester atmospheric carbon. Having received various public accolades, there was great interest shown in the EMPYRE GRN 100 by industry. There has been significant market pull from specific sections of the agricultural and related waste industries to further-develop the EMPYRE 100 and specifically to upscale it for larger-scale industrial use. Woodco are seeking funding to facilitate this upscaling process, which will allow us address our target markets, and address EU targets for a green circular economy.
