Roofscapes transforms untapped pitched roofs into green and accessible spaces as a way to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. These transformations tactically combat the heat island effect, support local biodiversity, provide urban farming areas, and unlock new outdoor spaces in cities. Without destroying the existing historic fabric, Roofscapes deploys lightweight prefabricated timber platforms and contributes to reinforcing urban resilience in response to our century's environmental challenges. Roofscapes is a French startup founded in 2020 at the School of Architecture and Planning of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
