The Kesytone: a single number which assesses the ecological health of land relative to its full potential AND providing management information to improve. It uses modern science to restore the ancient role of human beings of the custodial species on our planet. It will transform the food system from an ecological problem, to the solution: healthy, affordable, real food, grown in high functioning resilient natural systems which capture carbon, restore biodiversity & improve water systems. In the UK 9 million hectares of farmland produces half the food we eat. We can produce most of the food we need on half that land. Healthy food, people, nature and farming everywhere. The Keystone is the guidance system for citizens making food choices, farmers managing food production, processors & retailers managing supply chains, bankers making lending decisions, investors buying farmland & provides a next generation frame for markets for all ecosystem services; carbon, biodiversity and water.
