Komrads, probably the most sustainable Sneaker in the world Our planet’s resources are limited. This irreversible fact drives us to create full-circle, sustainable and vegan footwear. When we started our company we made a promise: It’s a PROMISE to produce a vegan sneaker entirely made out of recycled and reused materials, without having to harvest any natural recourses. A sneaker that didn’t involve killing or harming animals or chopping down rainforests and replacing them with huge rubber plantations. A sneaker that is a genuine solution to the problem, part of the circular economy. At Komrads we have 3 collections: - APLS: Stylish sneakers made of Apple Skin Leather, a perfect vegan alternative for animal leather. - OCNS: beautiful Sneakers made of Ocean Plastics. We collaborate with the Seaqual project on this. - ICNS: iconic festivals sneakers made of recycled cotton When producing our sneakers we make a difference, making us part of the solution: 1. We produce in Portugal ensuring save, honest and transparent working conditions 2. Fulfilment of our sneakers is handled by a Sheltered workplace: providing employment for people with disabilities, ex-convict and those who have a lesser change on the regular job-market. 3. By producing Komrads we save 93% of water (compared to a non-sustainable sneakers) (cfr report B-come) 4. By producing Komrads we save 61% of CO2 emission (compared to a non-sustainable sneakers) (cfr. Report B-come) 5. All our sneakers are circular: you sent them back to us and we give them a second life in our ReBirth program That’s probably why PETA voted our OCNS : Best vegan Sneaker!
