About

The textile industry is a large CO2 producer with a total greenhouse gas emissions of 1.2 billion tonnes annually representing more than those of all international flights and maritime shipping combined. Moreover, if nothing is done, it will be responsible for 25% of worldwide CO2 emissions by 2050. Synthetic fibers are made from ancient fossil sources and are associated with most of the CO2 emissions during the manufacturing of garments. We have developed a new technology, based on recent breakthroughs in molecular chemistry, to transform the potent greenhouse gas CO2 emitted at all steps of fabric manufacturing process into new synthetic fabrics, making possible to reach a truly circular economy for the industry. Our first target material is polyester. It is by far the most used synthetic fiber in the world accounting for more than 50% of the market and 40% of the emissions of the whole industry. Polyester is made of the polymerization of 2 petroleum based chemicals. Our solution, instead of using fossil fuels and emitting CO2, is using it as a raw materials to synthesize these molecules. Our end product will be price competitive , high quality, scalable and sustainable. It is identical to the one used today and the change will be transparent for the current supply chain.
