Ecoslops first industrial-scale processing unit has been operational since June 2015 in the port of Sinès, Portugal, and a second one is under construction near Marseille (scheduled to open by the end of 2020) Ecoslops technology is based on a perfect control of the collection, processing and refining processes of slops and sludges from maritime transport and terrestrial logistic, as well as a major innovation that combines treatment of oil residues and refining techniques applied to marine and industrial litter. With its integrated and innovative approach, Ecoslops offers port infrastructure, waste collectors and ship-owners a cost-effective, environmentally friendly solution that complies with international and European regulations regarding the collection and processing of slops. Ecoslops made a significant breakthrough by combining a number of sophisticated refining techniques into one micro-refining unit. This innovation was made possible due to the advanced refining processes used in a sized reduced treatment unit compared to usual fuel refining plants and technology and specifically developed engineering that makes these processes applicable to slops recycling. After the water and sediment have been removed, the slops are sent to the P2R vacuum distillation column. They are heated to 400°C, which, under vacuum conditions, causes most hydrocarbons to vaporize. At the end of the distillation, several types of fuels are produced. A P2R unit is meant to treat at least 25,000 to 30,000 tons of residues/year.
The MINI-P2R is a compact micro-refining unit which regenerates oil wastes and used oil into 2nd generation oil products
The Mini-P2R is a simple, compact and automatized unit which enables the in-situ valorization of oil wastes and used oil, and to locally manufacture oil products needed by the nearby industrial fabric. The technology used is based on the P2R (Petroleum Residue Recycling) process, successfully operated by Ecoslops on an industrial scale since 2015. The Mini-P2R unit opens the revaluation of petroleum waste to more than 300 medium-sized or isolated ports, thus encouraging the treatment of these residues in a traceable and transparent way. Ecological and economically sustainable, it is also a source of diversification for ports and creates sustainable jobs for the energy transition. The Mini-P2R has a hydrocarbon fraction treatment capacity of 3 000 to 6 000 tons per year.
