About
Dryad Networks develops Silvanet, a large-scale, distributed sensor network to continuously monitor the health of the forest with a central analytics and alerting platform, dramatically reducing reaction time for wildfires. The wireless sensors are solar powered, measuring temperature, humidity, ozone, water consumption and growth of trees as well as detecting forest fires with smoke sensors. With reduced reaction time for wildfires, Dryad will help to protect the world’s largest carbon sink, addressing deforestation and emissions from forest fires which contribute up to 20% of the global CO2 emissions. Dryad will also mitigate the economic damage caused by wildfires, estimated to be at $100bn per year, tapping into a substantial market potential with insurances, forest owners and governments.
