About
Alkion is a young biotech company, spin off from Imperial College London, created in 2017 with the ambition to build the world’s most sustainable & efficient industrial bioproduction platform for high-value active ingredients in plants. The team has developed a unique technology of plant biostimulation in patented large-scale bioreactors that considerably saves space, time, water and energy with a negative-carbon approach. The platform is flexible with pharmaceutical and agri-food projects such as medical cannabinoids (Alkion owns the first French R&D licence on Cannabis for medical purposes), powerful natural vaccine adjuvants and recombinant proteins such as Interferon Beta 1A (growth factors) and intense natural sweeteners. We own 4 patent families and have won many grants and award for a total of 4 million euros. Currently the team is building a pilot bio-refinery with the support of European Commission (EIC Accelerator) and is in Serie A fundraise.
