DCC™ - Hydrogen-fueled boiler for zero air pollution

The Dynamic Combustion Chamber™ or hydrogen boiler is powered by stored hydrogen made from renewable energy sources that emits zero greenhouse gases.

The design of the system allows the capture of heat for useable work from the enthalpy change, when two moles of hydrogen react with one mole of oxygen in an exothermic reaction, when hydrogen gas combines with oxygen gas to form water. The water immediately flashes to superheated steam in a 2'800°C environment, transferring heat from the tubes of the boiler to the water in the boiler shell to create cycle steam for heat and power without emitting GHG’s. Unlike carbon-based fuels that burn in the infrared range and require exhaust gases including GHG’s, hydrogen burns in the ultraviolet range, producing virtually little to no radiant heat from the flame allowing the product of the reaction to condense to water thus transferring the maximum amount of latent heat for useful work. Only the superheated steam from the reaction comes in contact with the boiler tubes before being recirculated back to water and made into fuel again is the principle characteristic of this boiler. The condensing characteristic of this boiler process creates a natural vacuum that is formed from steam condensation within heat exchanger tubes: captures virtually all of the reaction heat ; acts as a natural process barrier to hydrogen and mitigates the effects of potential hydrogen embrittlement ; since there is no smoke stack there is no need for fans thus lowering the parasitic load along with the reduction of operation and maintenance costs of the hydrogen boiler compared to conventional boilers. Zero air pollution is the hallmark of the hydrogen-fueled boiler, with heat and water being the only byproducts. All other combustion processes emit air pollutants.
