To achieve this, Volterres developed an innovative traceability system called Renewable Energy Digit System ( R.E.D.S). R.E.D.S makes it possible to certify the geographical origin and the type of electricity actually consumed, offering consumers the background information to decide which renewable power plants will be the primary source of their electricity. By bringing to the fore independent renewable energy producers, this innovative solution strengthens the relationship between producers and electricity consumers while encouraging local authorities and independent energy producers to develop new local renewables projects.
