SopraStar is a covering for flat roofs that limits the absorption of solar energy and which reduces both urban heat islands and summer discomfort in buildings . The surfaces of the building’s envelope (roofs and facades) can contribute to urban cooling.
Thanks to their radiative properties (solar reflectivity and thermal emissivity), Cool Roof systems do not absorb solar energy but reflect it. These systems allow the temperature of surfaces exposed to solar radiation to be reduced. Thanks to an SRI (Solar Reflectance Index) of 96, the SOPREMA Cool Roof membrane SopraStar allow a reduction of the impact of a building on urban warming of over 50%, whilst at the same time reducing the interior temperature of the building by 1 to 2°C (summer comfort).

Key features
- •Reduction of the impact of a building on urban warming of over 50%.
- •Reducing the interior temperature of the building by 1 to 2°C (summer comfort).
- •Reduction of smog and significant improvement of air quality.
- •Energy savings on Air Conditioning: 3 kWh/y/m² of cool roof.
- •1.9 to 7.5 kg of CO2 mitigated / m² of roof.
Profitability
- •Between 0.5 and 1 $/m²/y of savings due to energy savings.
